Sharpsburg Horse Seizure Update
21 Dec 2006

Sharpsburg, MD:  On December 17th, 2006 the Humane Society of Washington County removed the remaining 22 horses impounded on the Mills Road farm in Sharpsburg, Maryland.

The owner of the farm, Barbara Reinken, has petitioned the Washington County District courts for the return of all of her horses.  She will appear in Washington County District court on Friday December 22nd at 1:30 pm.

Medical evaluations have revealed the horses are in need of extensive worming, dental and regular vaccinations.  The need for hay will continue throughout this effort.  At this time, veterinarians are instructing only grass, no alfalfa or fescue, to be fed to the horses.  Anyone wishing to contribute to the continuing effort, contributions can be made out to the Humane Society of Washington County, Attention: The Sharpsburg Horse Rescue Medical and Rehabilitation Fund, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown MD  21740.
