Success Stories

Simon

We checked out some of the rescue sites and came to the Humane Society several times looking for a young, small breed dog.

Each time, we found the dog we were interested in was already spoken for.

Then a woman at the front desk recommended filling out a “wish list” form.

We did and then went on with our lives… a couple of months later, I mentioned to my husband that I guess it just wasn’t meant for us to have a dog at this time…

Lo and behold the phone rang the next day, the HS staffer asked if we were still interested in a young, small breed dog.

She said “I have what you want.”

OK, I thought, I’ll stop out tomorrow and see. Well, I just couldn’t wait and about 4:30 I was at the HSWC looking at the sweetest little ball of fluff I’d ever seen.

“Skipppy” was about 5-months old and had been there for about 10 days. He looked at me and my husband said he knew, he was the one. "Skippy" became "Simon" on the spot!

He is now nearly three years old and has brought more joy to our lives than we ever imagined.

What I learned from this experience was that sometimes God has a plan that we don’t even consider.

That you can’t protect a broken heart by not loving again and that there is a very gifted “pet matchmaker” at the Humane Society of Washington County.
