Losing such an important part of the family is never easy. When it is time to say goodbye to your beloved pet, we are here to support you. HSWC offers compassionate owner-requested euthanasia and cremation services for local pet owners at a reduced cost.

 

End-of-Life Euthanasia

 

Euthanasia services are available by appointment Monday-Friday. Pet owners have the option to stay with their pet during the appointment. Owners may choose to take their pet’s body home for burial or select one of the cremation options below. For additional information about our End-of-Life Euthanasia options or to schedule an appointment, please call the shelter at 301-733-2060 and ask to speak with the Resource Center. The Resource Center can be reached directly by dialing extension 208, extension 209, or extension 243.

Private Cremation

 

HSWC works with Valley Pet Crematory to provide private cremation services for pet owners who wish to keep the remains of their pet. Your pet will receive an individual cremation with its remains carefully sealed in a selection of urns. You will be able to pick up the ashes of your beloved pet at the shelter within two weeks. Pet owners have the option to have a name plate added to the front of the urn for an additional $25.

Communal Cremation

 

Communal cremation services are available for those who do not wish to keep the remains of their pet. For those who choose communal cremation, the remains of your beloved pet will be spread across an apple orchard just miles from the crematory in Williamsport, MD.
