Shelter Veterinarian - Full-Time

The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) is seeking a licensed Veterinarian to oversee the individual and herd health of animals at a mid-sized animal shelter. This position plays a pivotal role in triaging incoming animals, performing rounds, supporting case animals, and partnering with leadership to ensure humane population management and disease control. Most animals are cats and dogs, but small mammals, exotics, and some large animals are also housed on occasion.
The ideal candidate is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Maryland. Flexible full-time schedule.
The ideal candidate has a sound understanding of shelter medicine and herd management principles and is passionate about seeking positive outcomes for sheltered animals.
Full-time Pay and Benefits:

Salary between $120,000 and $140,000, commiserate with training and experience

$10,000 sign-on bonus ($5,000 after 90 days; $5,000 after first year)

Reimbursement available for DEA licensing and Fear Free Certification

Stipend available towards annual CE requirements

Surgical Veterinarian - Full-Time
Are you passionate about spaying and neutering and want to use your interest and expertise to play a critical life-saving role?
The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) is seeking a licensed Veterinarian to provide care for animals in need. Primarily focused on High Quality, High-Volume (HQHV) spay/neuter surgeries for shelter animals and community cats, this position also performs other basic surgical procedures that aim to improve overall quality of life (enucleations, amputations, dental extractions, etc.) and participates in the shelter’s preventative wellness and low-cost public spay/neuter programs when needed.
The ideal candidate is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Maryland. This individual is familiar with sound HQHV practices and is adept at performing 25+ spay/neuter surgeries a day. Flexible full-time schedule.
Full-time Pay and Benefits:

Salary between $125,000 and $150,000, commiserate with training and experience

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) - Full-Time
Are you passionate about improving the lives of homeless animals? So are we.
The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) is seeking a compassionate Registered Veterinarian Technician (RVT) who has experience in providing high quality care to animals in need. Surgeries in our onsite veterinary clinic focus primarily on spaying and neutering and on procedures that aim to improve overall quality of life.
Full-time or Part-time available. Flexible schedule, Monday-Friday. No weekends or on call.
The ideal candidate holds a Maryland State Veterinary Technician License or is eligible to transfer license from another state within 60 days of hire. The candidate has a minimum of one-year experience in the veterinary field. The individual is a solid communicator with the ability to remain focused and positive when there is a need to pivot. Preference given to candidates who have worked in an animal shelter setting or in a HQHV spay/neuter clinic.
As a full-time employee, you’ll receive:
