Now Virtual!
Take the Plunge!
Due to rising COVID-19 cases and Greenbrier Park’s new restrictions on events, the Humane Society of Washington County’s 18th Annual Polar Bear Plunge will now be 100% virtual. Participants will now plunge separately – but united – for animals in need!
Join us on Saturday, January 9, 2021 for our Virtual Polar Bear Plunge! Become a member of this time honored club by taking the plunge from the comfort of your own home to save animals at HSWC. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Washington County!
We need you to help save lives! You can register to plunge individually, start or join a team, set a goal, and begin raising money in support of the animals.
Virtual plunger registration is $25.00,and everyone who registers by January 9th will receive an official Polar Bear Plunge long-sleeved t-shirt.
Join us virtually on January 9th by taking the plunge in your pool, a creek, or even your bathtub! Then post a photo or video of yourself taking the plunge, tag HSWC, and use the hashtag #PlungingForPaws. A few HSWC staff members will be taking the plunge on Facebook Live at noon sharp, so tune in to watch us brave the cold!
And that’s not all! This is your chance to get creative, because one lucky virtual plunger will win Most Creative Virtual Plunge and be awarded a special prize! Virtual plungers will also still be eligible to win our Best Costume and Most Money Raised prizes. Post your virtual plunge video on Facebook, tag HSWC, and use the hashtag #PlungingForPaws (or if you don’t have Facebook, email a photo of your plunge to asomers@hswcmd.org) by 3pm on Saturday, January 9th, and you’ll be entered to win all three prizes. Winners will be announced at 5pm on January 9th!
Not plunging but want to help? You can also make a donation toward your favorite Polar Bear by searching for them on our fundraising site.
All of our participants are encouraged to fundraise for our animals and there will be prizes for participants who reach the following goals. Each Polar Bear who reaches the following levels will receive a small token of thanks!
